Pluses and Minuses

 What causes denominations; other than people?  It's a matter of additions and subtractions.  There is no sinner's prayer in the Bible.  There is immersion in water (baptism) which occurs in EVERY instance of conversion in the Bible.

It's usually seminaries (mostly liberal or dogmatic) that are altering the Bible (by reading into it interpretations that are not in the Bible).  Commentaries help us understand the time period and technology that's mentioned in the Bible.  BUT it is not scripture.  Tradition is also practiced as if it is scriptural.

Duh, it's only people!  Back to Adam and Eve - it's the tendency to find something unique in the scriptures.  Or in the case of one world wide cult: 

  1. Appoint one person as the sole authority over church practices
  2. Appoint saints (deceased)
  3. Pray to "saints"
  4. "sprinkle" babies which saves their souls

My favorite metaphor for God is the He's in a balloon looking down on a parade.  As the parade marches by we see it in time and only one float or band at a time.  Looking ahead on the route God can alter the landscape for groups to yet pass by. The real difficulty for most Christians is that they only pray for circumstances.    But follow the lives of people who've figuratively been given a lemon and they made lemonade. Sometimes God needs people to go where no one else will go.  So He allows for some tragedy for a strong Christian to step into that situation and conduct a ministry that brings the person greater joy than they had before. Sound of Silence

  American Communications If America collaspses where is the world to turn to for truth and posterity? Here is an apt description of political communications in our governments and our citizens in America. The song “Sound of Silence” was written by Simon and Garfunkel. But I believe it lacks the tone that fits the lyrics of the song. “Disturbed” I believe captured the tone that easily brings out the complete message of the song.
